Behind the doe-eyes, perfect curls and long legs ; concealed by
the flattering lense of the camera, are ambitious young women
with one dream: they long to be remembered. What passion,
what ruthless hopes and dreams are hidden behind these
dazzling smiles? What were the sacrifices, the shattered hopes,
the terrible losses and solitude of these forgotten starlettes?

This exhibition aims at conveying the paradoxical emotions linked to the lives of these women. A two-sided element opposes the glamorous front stage, with its bright lights and dream-like decors, and the backstage, offering a more sober reflection on anonymity and the struggle for fame, and giving these starlettes
an opportunity to be remembered.

The first view of the installation is that of a fresco creating a fictional decor of vivid landscapes. The homogeneous structural
element consists of four alcoves which invite visitors to pose and take the scene, to take selfies and be photographed by their friends. The diorama-like fresco is a new take on the postcard settings of today’s instagram influencer culture. On top of the fun and delight of showing oneself off, the scenes and poses
suggest the same immediate seduction and vulnerability as that of the anonymous starlettes of yesterday and today.
Walking around the structure, positioned diagonally in the space, the visitor will discover the behind the scenes of the
apparent glamour. The light wooden structure covered in etheral fabric reminiscent both of a scene and of female
clothing. Dirty portraits are of starlettes are laid on a narrow table behind the curved, unpainted structure of the alcoves. The visitor can slip into the structure to experience a more
introspective understanding of the hardships of the quest for
fame.
